I’m doing the update today because by the time she turns 2 months
later in the week, we’ll be busy spending time with the three boys as part of
the adoption process, yay!
A new outfit on December 5! This one says 0-3 months but she just now fits it. :)
We love all of her many expressions! :)
The very day after the one month update and, ah-hem, venting a bit
about Sophia’s extremely sporadic schedule, to the tune of never doing anything
3 days (or nights) in a row… It got better!! She definitely has her days and
nights sorted. Since November 13, she doesn’t wake up in the middle of the
night to eat as long as I “top her off” before we go to bed, usually around
midnight. That’s usually the 8th or 9th feeding of the
day—she won’t stand for any less!
Then often we’re waking her at 6:30 or 7am because I’m so full—and because
that’s plenty of time for such a small baby between meals! Other days she wakes
up at 5 or 5:30am. Sometimes she goes back to sleep right away, and other times
it takes 30 minutes to an hour… And then I go back to sleep if the day’s
schedule allows for it. Even if I can't, it seems to help a LOT to not have my sleep so
disjointed.
So cute when asleep :) (Her little arms and legs are getting chubby!)
The "waking up/stretching" face
As far as the day goes, she still doesn’t care much for the schedule. I either have to wake her at the 3 hour point because she’s just finally fallen asleep, or at some point almost every day now she’s hysterical until I feed her again, even if it’s only been an hour or two. Those times, I figure she’s growing, so I often feed her again at the scheduled time, too. That means some days, mornings and late evenings especially, I feel like all we’re doing is nursing!! This past week she must have had a growth spurt and the milk wasn’t keeping up. There have been some very noisy evenings around here, until she is finally satisfied sometime between midnight and 1:30am! Jake says he’s pretty sure that you could pipe the sound of a baby crying into a waiting room and after 10 or 15 minutes of that non-stop have everyone trying to kill each other!
It’s getting really fun to interact with her and have her respond
back. The past couple of days she’s started to coo! As many babies as I’ve seen
begin to “babble”, this is pretty special. She smiles at me more now, too. At
first, she saved all her smiles and grins for her daddy! (She still turns on
her charm more quickly for him—see this blog post for a video.)
This morning I put her in the very first baby outfit we bought for our baby, when I was 5 1/2 months pregnant in Italy. The accessories are from my family. :)
She wasn't too happy this morning before church.
Ahh, that's more like it! She still prefers being swaddled to anything else!
This afternoon she was more in the mood for pictures!
We love our baby!! :)
That explains why I like the dress so much!
